Sustainable design

Prioritising sustainable development

Delivering new jobs is important, but so is doing it in the right way. We want this to be a landmark scheme for Northamptonshire. A big part of achieving that aim comes down to sustainable design.

Making sure that this development responds to the climate crisis and delivers something that is fit for the future is one of our top priorities.

Harworth Group has a strong track record of delivering high quality sustainable schemes and we will be working hard to ensure that the units onsite come forward in a sustainable manner.

Biodiversity

Helping local wildlife to thrive

Ensuring these plans are sensitive to the surrounding environment is one of our top priorities. The proposals provide an opportunity to deliver a range of ecological enhancements onsite and help achieve a biodiversity net gain.

We are planning to retain existing greenery where possible, whilst also looking to create new areas of green infrastructure. We will do this by planting over 400 new trees and creating new species-rich hedgerows and wildflower meadows. This will deliver a net gain in biodiversity that exceeds national requirements.

Sustainable travel

Promoting active lifestyles

As part of the plans, we are also exploring opportunities to integrate and enhance opportunities for sustainable modes of travel. This includes investment in walking and cycling infrastructure to and from the site. By making it easy for people to walk, cycle, or use public transport to the site we will help to reduce pressures on local roads whilst also helping the environment.
